YMCA Summer Work Student Exchange is a national exchange program offering opportunities for youth to gain valuable work experience, explore another part of Canada and improve their second official language skills, all for the cost of $100.
All grade 10, 11 and 12 students are welcome to attend a 20-minute interactive presentation about the program for summer 2016 on FRIDAY, APRIL 22 at LUNCH in Madame Simian’s room 314.
YMCA Summer Work Student Exchange (SWSE) is a six-week summer program for 16- and 17-year-old youth. In BC, each English-speaking participant is matched with a French-speaking participant from Québec and the two youth are hosted in one another’s homes to deepen their cultural experience. Youth are also provided with a full-time summer job in the non-profit sector where they will be paid the provincial minimum wage. During weekends and some evenings, the youth will join their Local YMCA Coordinator in group activities to explore their new community and form lasting friendships.)
